THE PE CURRICULUM

Our Physical Education curriculum inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically demanding activities. It provides opportunities for students to become physically confident in a way that supports their health and fitness. Students at Le Rocquier will have opportunities to compete in sport and other activities that help build character and to embed values such as fairness and respect.  

 

The Jersey Curriculum for Physical Education aims to ensure that all pupils: 

  • develop competence to excel in a broad range of physical activities  

  • are physically active for sustained periods of time  

  • engage in competitive sports and activities  

  • use and experience the natural outdoor learning resources of Jersey  

  • lead healthy, active lives. 

 

The strands are taught through a variety of activities & sport which include: 

  • Team Games-Netball, football, hockey, volleyball rugby, short-tennis, basketball rounders & cricket. 

  • Develop their techniques and improving performances -gymnastics & athletics. 

  • Perform dances-dance. 

  • Participate in Outdoor Adventurous Activities- orienteering. 

  • Analyse their performances- All activities 

  • Take part in competitive sport & activities outside school through community links or sports 

 

How students are assessed in PE:

In both Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 core PE lessons, students are assessed continuously throughout each unit of work using our assessment grids. Students may be better at some sports than others, but they are given an overall assessment grade. (See grids below.)
