Provisional 2026 Exam results

Le Rocquier students have again achieved outstanding examination successes today and we are delighted for them.  Many have achieved beyond their expectations, and you could hear the screams of delight and joy from the car park this morning.  They now go on to their A Levels, BTEC or employment with a significant spring in their step.  They have produced an outstanding set of results which reflects their own commitment in lessons and the valued support of my colleagues across the school.  Our students showed tremendous resilience and determination towards their exams, and we are proud of each and every one of them.  This cohort have shown all of the attributes our school aims to instil in young people during their 5 years with us, and they are now well prepared for their next steps in whatever they decide to do in the future.  On behalf of the students, I would like to thank my colleagues and our parents/careers for supporting our amazing students throughout their GCSEs and school journey.  Today is an occasion for real celebration and we wish our Class of 2026 all the very best in their future endeavours.  Mr Andrew Adkin, Headteacher, Le Rocquier School.

Context to our results:  Jersey has a highly selective education system with between 40 and 45% of students in fee paying or selective education each academic year.  Jersey operates a selective 14+ system where more able students are able to transfer from Le Rocquier and other schools to the local grammar school.  Therefore, like for like comparisons with other local schools needs contextualising.  Le Rocquier is a fully inclusive, non-selective, non-fee paying school who proudly serves our community in the east of the Island.

Value Added:

The following subjects met or exceeded their expected Value Added (Each student is set a Minimum Expected GCSE Grade or 'MEG' for each subject they take.  A subject adds value by on average, achieving more than the student's MEG.  Where a subject has +1 VA means that on average, students taking that subject achieved one more grades than their MEG.

• 19  from 24 subjects achieved or exceeded their expected GCSE grades and added significant value
• 15 subjects had a value added score of more than +0.33 of a grade per student
• 8 subjects had a value added score of more than +1 grade per student
• 4 subjects had a value added score of more than +1.5 grades per student
• 4 subjects had negative VA of less than -0.33 of a grade
• The highest subject, Spanish is +1.96.
• Attainment 8 is just over 45

Average VA for the whole school is +0.44  We have added just short of half a grade more than expected to each individual exam result.  (This is against robust external benchmarking)

Other notable outcomes:

• 67.8% of students gained 5 GCSEs or more at grade 4 or above compared to 67% for the whole of the UK
• 19% of all grades were Grade 7 or higher (Uk 21%)
• 61.9% of students gained 5 grades 9-4 including English and mathematics
• 98 % of grades were 9-1
• All our ASDAN Students passed their course
• All students passed their Level 1 Construction Course
