Student Support and Wellbeing

At Le Rocquier students' welbeing is very important. At times, all students need a little more input and care. When the pastoral care from the tutor and the head of year isn't enough, we have a dedicated team of Education Welfare Officers, Counsellors & Elsa practitioners specifically trained to help support the physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing of our students so that they can thrive.

These student services contribute to the quality of students learning experience and their academic success, encouraging, and establishing the scaffolding for students to make rational decisions, establish and keep meaningful positive relationships and also resolve conflicts and prepare the student to be resilient in their learning.

Internal interventions such as ELSA and Counselling are referred to through conversations with the Head of Year. These mental and behavioral specialists can help with a range of student concerns such as:

  • Loss & Bereavement
  • Emotional Literacy
  • Self Esteem
  • Social Skills
  • Friendship Issues
  • Relationships
  • Managing strong feelings
  • Anxiety
  • Bullying
  • Conflict
  • Emotional regulation
  • Growth mindset
  • Social stories

In year 7, our trained year 11 Peer Educators will start the strong and healthy links between the youngest and oldest students, delivering bespoke PSHE type lessons to start to form positive, healthy mental well-being.

All messages are upheld through our comprehensive PSHE curriculum. This is dedicated well planned lessons to all students for 1 hr a week throughout their time at Le Rocquier.

As well as internal interventions, we have access to local supports services and work closely with You Matter, Mind Jersey, the Youth Service & Skills Jersey.

Learning Support:

Our dedicated support teaching assistants focus on the provision of supplementary teaching to pupils who require additional help. They work with pupils in groups or one-to-one, either in the classroom or in a learning support room.

If you are concerned that your child needs additional support with learning, please arrange an appointment with our SENCO who can discuss your child's needs and process any testing or further investigations.
